A beautiful June morning, with blue skies and the early morning sun glinting in the East as we set off the Rheola Estate in Rhesolven; our grateful thanks to Mrs Rees for once again allowing the Labrador Club the use of this super venue, with its justly famous lake and lovely setting. Arriving with the usual fluster that accompanies all event organisers we were greeted with the aroma of sizzling sausages as Johnny Morris cooked his nice bit o breakfast on a camping stove! The judges, John James, Ray Jenkins, Richard Longman and Dick Stanley were able to enjoy some excellent dog-work. Paul (Boko) Clarks dog Powenargrof Douglas pulled off some exhibition level retrieves and finished the day without dropping a single point.; hot on his heels came another of Brian Gregorys Powenargrof breeding, this time Johnny Morriss beautiful bitch Powenargrof Ffionne. Ffionne along with Mike Larkins highly successful Larki Style achieved joint second place. Hugh Jones and his lab bitch had a superb round , as did John Jones Kilpen Domino. How good it was to see that John Jones had recovered so well from his recent hip operation and is once again enjoying the sport to the full. We hope all 27 of the competitors had a good day and from the atmosphere Im pretty sure that they did and thank them sincerely for their support on the day. A special mention here for the spaniel boys and girls that turned up on the day , adding greatly to the fun and sportsmanship of the occasion. Our grateful thanks to our 4 judges who did a superb job, who with humour and professionalism ensured that each competitor gave of their best. Thanks also to our helpers for the day, for without these vitally important people the day cannot run. Special thanks to our judges and dummy throwers (Gwyn Prosser, Simon Hadley, Hayden Wilmott, Johnny Morris, Shaw, Kevin Heath), Catering Officer: Gwyn Prosser (Recipes taken from: How to shoot your cholesterol through the roof!), Tea Maker: Richard Morris (better known as our Chairman), Raffle Ticket Seller: Yvonne Stephens
